Pop Fizz: Victorious Canceled, American Idol, FAME Comics

So, even though I reported that it was renewed for a fourth season, Nickelodeon has decided to cancel “Victorious” anyway. There are still several episodes that have yet to air, so viewers don’t have to say goodbye today.

I know that everyone is dying to hear the latest in “American Idol” judges’ panel news, so I’ll tell you that P. Diddy is the latest name to be thrown into the mix. I can’t even tell you how annoyed this makes me. Also, does everyone else remember when Diddy’s ex-girlfriend and former “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez were dating? I wonder if Ryan Seacrest will make any related jokes if Diddy gets the job.

One Direction performed at the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Olympics last night. They were just one of the many performances that included the Spice Girls and emerging pop artist Ed Sheeran.

Bella Thorne won the Best Young Actress on TV award at the 2012 Imagen Awards. I had to look up her ethnicity to verify her eligibility to win such an award as the Imagens are aimed at honoring the portrayal of Latinos in TV and film. Don’t worry, Wikipedia confirmed her Cuban heritage.

Bluewater Productions will publish a bunch of new titles in its “FAME” comic book series. These “bio-comics” will follow the adventures of Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, One Direction, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson. They’re available for pre-order, so get on it!

Pop Fizz: New Furby, BTR Renewed, Google’s Popular Online Celebs

A video overview of the new Furby was posted online, and I’m a little nervous about their intelligence…and impressionable personalities. The disposition of your Furby is shaped by how you interact with it, like a real pet. Unlike a real pet, however, you can feed your Furby from its accompanying iOS app. New Furby has digital eyes and costs around $50. We’ll see how it competes with the similar Fijit toys.

Boy band Big Time Rush are happy to see that Nickelodeon has renewed their show for a fourth season. I could’ve sworn that these guys had aged out of that demo already.

Justin Bieber has issued a call for online audition submissions for aspiring dancers. He’s looking for the special bunch to perform with him on his “Believe” tour.

More in Bieber news, Google has revealed that he and Selena Gomez top the list of Most Popular Online Celebrities. The Biebz is searched 30.4 million times a month, while his lady friend sees about 20 million searches. They outrank Lady Gaga, Barack Obama and Michael Jackson who round out the top 5. That’s right, my friends. Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga are more sought out than a president and a king (…of pop, of course).

More in celebrity-power-couple and superlative-lists news, Beyonce and Jay-Z topped Forbes’ “World’s Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples” list. They made a combined $78 million between May 2011 and 2012. Chump change.

Pop Fizz: Big Time Rush, One Direction, Sam & Cat

Parade conducted its first boy band poll and the results are in: Big Time Rush is on top. How did One Direction take second place?!

Speaking of the runners-up, they recently celebrated selling over 12 million singles, albums and DVDs combined in less than a year. I heard someone on the news yesterday call them “The Fab Five” and I died a little inside.

Nickelodeon announced a pilot starring the network’s two favorite sidekicks. Sam of “iCarly” and Cat of “Victorious” will play roommates who start a babysitting business in a new spin-off series called – wait for it – “Sam and Cat.” Working titles are fun. Naturally, Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande will reprise their roles.

Pop Fizz: Harry Potter Reading Club, Call Me Mavy, Cee-Loo Green

J.K. Rowling and Scholastic have launched the Harry Potter Reading Club that gives educators and parents tools to organize a new generation of Harry fans. The series’ author will also be answering questions from kids in a live webcast in October, marking the first time she has done so since 2007.

If you thought you’d seen the last “Call Me Maybe” cover, think again. The filmmakers behind “Hotel Transylvania” have released a featurette starring Selena Gomez’s character from the movie called “Call Me Mavy” (Her name is Mavis in the film). Surprisingly, Selena isn’t the character’s singing voice in the clip.

Nickelodeon’s “How To Rock” will get the guest star treatment from Cee-Lo Green. The musician is also a voice actor in “Hotel Transylvania,” so I guess he’s an actor now?
